5 Black Suspects Arrested for Fatal Shooting of White Man and His Dog

A suspect wanted for murder turned himself in to police late Friday morning.

Investigators said 20-year-old Dwaine Love was among five suspects accused in a fatal shooting in a north Knoxville home at 2837 Valley View Drive early Thursday morning.

A man who was shot, 21-year-old John Huddleston, died at UT Medical Center. A woman,18-year-old Syndey Smith, was shot in the leg, but is expected to survive. A dog was also shot and killed.

Officials charged the suspects with first-degree murder and attempted robbery, among other charges. The other four suspects were arrested Thursday.

Dwaine Love is the latest one to be arrested for the killing.

The five suspects are 20-year-old Dwaine Love, 21-year-old Braylen Bennett, 23-year-old Charles Boyd, 19-year-old Rodrick Curtis and 23-year-old Melvin King.

One of the suspects was shot in the arm. Crews also took him to UT Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Police said all the people inside the home at the time of the shooting knew each other from high school. Investigators said they believe robbery and drugs motivated the crime.
