A woman was nearly raped while walking through Washington Heights, authorities said.
The 52-year-old victim was walking near the corner of W. 175th Street and Haven Avenue at around 6 p.m. Friday when the suspect came up behind her and threw her to the ground, cops said.
The brute then tried to rape the woman in plain sight before she started screaming and he let her go.
The victim tried to run home to her building, but the attacker followed her inside, where he stole her cell phone before running off, cops said. The assailant can be seen on building surveillance video entering the victim’s building after he tried to attack her.
The suspect is described by police as standing around 5-foot-10 and about 175 pounds.
