The man who was convicted of murdering Peter Belmont has been sentenced to 667 months (or 55 years) in prison.
Darrell Lee Broxton, 52, was sentenced Friday for the December 2012 murder of Belmont.
Police found Belmont’s body in his bed on Dec. 16, 2012. Belmont had been dead for several days when he was discovered by police.
Broxton was convicted of intentional second degree murder, burglary and two counts of theft. He was found guilty following a seven-day trial in February 2015.
Belmont, 69, was a retired teacher from Kansas City, Kan. He was also a nationally known dog trainer.
