The owner of a Baltimore County restaurant was beaten and robbed while trying to get a bag of money out of his car Saturday.
Authorities said Markos Pappas, 83, was in the parking lot of Pappas Seafood Restaurant just before noon when he attempted to retrieve the bag and was pistol-whipped.
Investigators said Pappas fell to the ground but was able to get up and flee into the restaurant.
Officials identified the robber as Darrell Burns, 25, who fled from the scene in a car with the money.
A deputy said Burns hit a parked car at Greenmount and Venable avenues, and was arrested.
Authorities said the gun used in the attack was found in the parking lot of the restaurant.
Pappas was treated for his injuries at Sinai Hospital. Burns faces several charges, including armed robbery and first-degree assault. He is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
