9-Year-Old White Boy Handcuffed to Chair and Beaten to Death by Mother’s Black Boyfriend

Jack Garcia was beaten to death by his mother’s Black boyfriend for eating some birthday cake. It was his birthday three days earlier.

Police filed charges Monday against the mother and an uncle of a 9-year-old boy who died after allegedly being beaten for eating a piece of birthday cake without permission.

Oriana Garcia, 26, and Jacob Barajas, 23, were charged with second-degree murder in Jack Garcia’s death, Hagerstown Police Capt. Paul Kifer said in a news release.

Kifer said that on June 30, Barajas handcuffed Jack to a chair, and Garcia’s boyfriend, 30-year-old Robert Wilson, hit him. Wilson was charged on July 2 with first-degree assault and child abuse though he may face more serious charges following the boy’s death on July 5.

Robert Wilson beat him to death, after another Non-White had handcuffed the boy to a chair.

The mother’s brother told police the boy was handcuffed on Tuesday as punishment for stealing the cake.

He said Wilson hit the boy in stomach after the handcuffs were removed.

The boy’s mother Oriana Garcia then prevented the boy from receiving any medical attention.
