Africans on French Elections: “Where is De Gaulle, the Real White?”

A leftist French newspaper asked various international writers for their thoughts on the French election and didn’t get quite what they were expecting from Ken Bugul, a Senegalese writer (pictured).

“Déguaulle was a «toubab piir», a true toubab, a true White, say the old ones. The ones who make and unmake France now are “toubabs ndialaxane”, false Whites, they add. These “toubabs ndialaxanes” remind us of the fake lions that appear in our festivals at the end of the winter season in the regions. These false lions all want to become president of France.”

…Let us dare to dream of a “toubab piir” [pure white] or a “toubabesse piir” [pure whiteness] to recover that France of de Gaulle. Otherwise, the image of France as a point of reference, still present in the subconscious of millions of people outside of France, will be demystified with unpredictable turns of events. I went to the tomb of my mother to meditate and ask her opinion and heard a voice from the other side saying: “Where is de Gaulle, the true white?”: «Où est Déguaulle, le «toubab piir»?

“toubab” means white. In Verlan, a kind of street slang in which words are reversed and their syllables shifted around, this becomes “babtou”, a term widely used by invader youth in France.

(((Bat Ye’or))) and the Counterjewhad have promoted the false idea that de Gaulle was responsible for the islamisation of France and the ethnic destruction of the French people. I already debunked this notion here. Jews hated de Gaulle because he downgraded relations with Israel after the Jews deceived him about the ’67 war. They accused him of antisemitism when, at a press conference, he called the Jews “an elite people, sure of itself, and domineering”.

The man often called the founder of Israel, David Ben-Gurion, was a friend of de Gaulle and had some interesting things to say after his death:

“I am really terribly sorry at his unexpected death,” the former Premier told an Israeli newsman over the telephone shortly after hearing the news on the radio. “All the Jewish press very much exaggerated his supposed hostility to Israel and to Jews.”

Note that phrase “the Jewish press” which might have been fatal to the career or reputation of a non-Jew.

Years ago, I read a book about Nixon by Richard Reeves (“Alone in the White House”), which was full of Nixon’s adverse comments about Jews. When de Gaulle visited America, the Jews were protesting against him, demanding that no one from the American government meet him. Nixon’s response was “The fucking Jews, they think they can dictate our policies” and went to meet de Gaulle personally.

I need to look out that Nixon book again. I wasn’t Jew-wise then, so the comments just struck me as funny at the time.
