The state cannot override federal laws regarding the border. They can say “oh well, we have to let them in because the feds said so, but then we can arrest them and put them in jail for it, because even though it’s federally legal, it’s illegal in our state.” But it doesn’t work that way. A fed judge will just override it.
Why do I know this, but an army of lawyers does not?
Arizona voters will be able to decide this November whether to approve a measure that would make it a state crime for migrants to cross the Mexico border into Arizona other than through an official US entry point, the state supreme court has ruled.
If the controversial new law, currently known as Proposition 314, wins voters’ favor when they cast their ballots in the presidential election, Arizona would empower local law enforcement officials to arrest and prosecute suspected violators. State judges would also be allowed to issue de facto deportation orders.
Crossing into the US outside of an official port of entry is already a federal crime. But several Republican-led states have sought to also make it a state offense, giving them greater power to crack down on migration, but putting them on a collision course with the federal government.
Earlier this week, the Arizona supreme court rejected a lawsuit filed by immigrant rights groups that wanted to remove Proposition 314 from the ballot on constitutional grounds. In the majority opinion, the state’s chief justice, Ann Scott Timmer, concluded that the measures in the proposal amount to “responses to harms relating to an unsecured border”.
Some advocacy organizations and Arizona Democrats have said Proposition 314 demonizes immigrants and raises the specter of racial profiling.
Yeah, well.
I think we can all pretty much just admit that “racial profiling” is the point.
I understand that there are “natural American Mexicans” in Arizona, but I don’t think they care about this. From everything I’ve seen, most (all?) of them are cops and Border Patrol and are against the invasion. They’re not going to be bothered by being asked if they are citizens.
Anyway, none of this really matters. There are so many immigrants.

Obviously, less of these people is better. The entire country has changed under Joe Biden, with these 15-20 million “New Americans” he’s brought in, and doubling that would make things that much worse.
Frankly, I don’t know what the plan is to get more people in. At some point, every third worlder who wants to be here will already be here. They can still bring people in from Haiti, I guess, but it seems like all of the “Latins” who want to come are already here.
They could fly people into Panama from Africa, but the Africans can already get to Europe.
Frankly, probably the biggest group that still wants in are Indian college graduates, which is the group Trump says he’s most concerned about getting into the country.
