The man charged in August 2012 murder of a Mercer County resident enters a plea to a lesser charge.
In court on Wednesday, Deantre Scaife, 32, entered a guilty plea to second degree murder. He was originally indicted on a first degree murder charge for the shooting death of Derek Tabor, 23. of Montcalm.
A second degree murder conviction carries a sentence of 10-40 years in prison.
Derek Tabor was shot outside a home on Fourth Street in Bluefield, WV. A friend took him to the police department. He later died at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
David Reasby of Bluefield, WV was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in August 2013. Another man, Mitchell Antonio Watts, was originally charged with the murder of Derek Tabor but that case was dismissed.
