A West Palm Beach man remains in jail after being accused of killing an Indiana man and dumping his body in suburban Palm Beach Gardens.
Jay-Von Avery was charged with first-degree murder Sunday morning and held without bond.
Police say he shot Kyle Lutes, 25, in the back of the head and dumped his body in a wooded area along Valencia Gardens Avenue.
According to the affidavit, Avery paid Lutes to use his car. But a few days later, police said the car had bullet holes in the side and Lutes was nowhere to be found.
The affidavit says days before the body was found, Avery asked his sister to pass by the wooded area where the body was found.
Police said Avery then told his sister he “shot some boy and his body is by the lake.”
The suspect’s sister then contacted police.
The police report says Lutes had come to South Florida from Indiana to get treatment for a drug addiction. NewsChannel 5 reached out to the victim’s family, but they declined comment at this time.
