James Gorman was just trying to slow the traffic down so the kids were safe when the irate Blacks jumped out of the car and both attacked him, leaving him hospitalized with a torn rotator cuff, broken glasses, and pounding headaches.

Manatee County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a man in connection with the beating of a 70-year-old grandfather.

James Gorman suffered a bruised eye and torn rotator cuff after he reportedly asked two men speeding down his street to slow down.

Gorman was walking with his wheelchair-bound wife and his 7-year-old granddaughter at the time.

Leon Rogers has been arrested for battery on an elderly person. “They are about scummiest things I’ve ever seen,” says Gorman. “It takes two young men to beat up a 70-year-old man.”

The suspect, 19-year-old Leon Rogers, is charged with battery on an elderly person.

The investigation is still ongoing as detectives try to identify other suspects.
