The Tuscaloosa Police Department says they have arrested a suspect in connection to a forced entry during which a 61-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed.

According to officers, they responded to a residence on Windsor Drive at 7:11 a.m. on Thursday on a burglary call. The victim said a black male knocked on her door and she opened the door to see what he wanted. The suspect asked a question before forcing his way into the residence.  Once inside, police say he physically assaulted the victim and caused injuries to her face before sexually assaulting her. Police say he took a small amount of money and ran out.

The victim was transported to DCH for her injuries.

37-year-old Bobby Jermaine Stine was arrested in connection to the incident around 4 p.m. on Thursday. He is facing one count of 1st degree burglary, one count of 1st degree sodomy and one count of attempted rape. He is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $150,000 bond.

A neighbor who spoke to FOX6 News says crimes like this are unusual for the community. Buddy Hanson says he also spoke to the victim briefly before she was taken to the hospital.

“At first I thought she had an accident on the stove or something. Because when they brought her out, her face was red. It just didn’t dawn on me she was attacked. But I understand she’s doing well,” he said.

Because of the victim’s age and the home’s proximity to an unsolved murder from earlier this year, some wondered if this case could be connected to the murder of Kate Ragsdale, a retired University of Alabama librarian.

Homicide investigators say these two cases are unrelated.
