A Northside Independent School District bus driver has been arrested in connection with a fatal Friday morning crash in Western Bexar County.
David L. Wayne, 64, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid-death, a felony, after Bexar County Sheriff’s investigators said he failed to stop at a stop sign at FM 471 and Old FM 471 around 6 a.m.
Wayne pulled the school bus out in front of a westbound 18-wheeler, causing the driver of the 18-wheeler to swerve to avoid hitting the bus.

Instead, the 18-wheeler collided with an eastbound Ford Focus, driven by 62-year-old Larry Dean Salsbury. Salsbury was killed in the collision.
Traffic in the area was detoured for more than five hours while sheriff’s deputies investigated and a hazmat crew from the Texas Department of Transportation cleaned up the fuel spill.
Some Northside Independent School District bus routes were also running behind schedule.
