Andre Bright, 29, appeared at Oldham Magistrates Court this morning charged with the murder of mum-of-one Victoria at her home on Springwood Hall Road, Hathershaw, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Dressed in a grey tracksuit and white T-shirt, Bright showed no emotion as he spoke only to confirm his details in a two-minute hearing.
Bright, of Falmouth Street, Oldham, is understood to be the father of Victoria’s four-month-old daughter.
The baby girl was lying just feet away when her mum was stabbed repeatedly in the chest at their semi-detached home.
Bright is also accused of assaulting Matthew Wilkinson, a member of staff at 101 nightclub in Oldham, in a separate incident earlier the same morning.
The families of both Victoria and the defendant watched on from the public gallery with two police officers stood between them for the duration of the hearing.
Two security guards and another police officer flanked Bright in the dock.
The defendant stood motionless with his hands in his pockets and was barely audible when he spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
The case was sent to Manchester Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on Friday.
There was no application for bail and Bright will remain in custody.
