Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith reports an arrest has been made in the murder investigation of Kenneth Michael Spice.

Spice’s body was discovered in a wooded area in the 100 block of Primrose Circle on June 15.

Timiquae Marquan Slaton, 22, of Newnan, Ga. was developed as a suspect after investigators located evidence at his residence that tied back to the initial crime scene.
Sheriff Smith said a search warrant was executed at Slaton’s residence during the early morning hours of July 31 with the combined efforts of Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office investigators, the Upson Regional Narcotics Task Force, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

Timiquae Marquan Slaton was on probation when he was caught with marijuana and arrested for the murder of Spice.

During the search investigators located additional evidence that tied back to the initial crime scene investigation.
Slaton was also found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, which led to Slaton being charged with possession of marijuana by the Sheriff’s Office. A subsequent hold was placed on him for probation violation.

The GBI Crime Scene Agents assisted with the recovery and submission of the items recovered during the search warrant execution.
The GBI Crime Lab was able to provide investigators with a positive match on items recovered from the search warrant execution and the initial crime scene.
Sheriff Smith said this recovery and positive match along with other circumstantial evidence ultimately enabled them to obtain warrants for Slaton’s arrest in this case investigation.

“We learned Slaton and Spice had worked together at Yamaha in Newnan, Ga. prior to this case investigation,” Sheriff Chuck Smith stated.
