Almost two years after a 57-year-old man was killed, investigators have arrested a husband and wife in connection to a Yazoo County murder.
In November 2013, Ricky Saxton was shot in the head in a Yazoo County field.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation officials say Shontina Brown, 23, was arrested in connection to the crime and is being held in jail in Yazoo County.
Her husband, Johnny Mack Brown, 36, was the subject of a manhunt. Warren Strain with MBI tells us Johnny Mack Brown is now in custody. He’s been charged with capital murder, conspiracy to commit capital murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and as a felon in possession of a firearm.
Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff confirms Brown’s mother and aunt turned him in to police on Tuesday. He also said Brown and his wife confessed to the crime.
“This has been a difficult case. Our investigators have been doggedly pursuing leads and working tirelessly to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” said MBI Director Lt. Col. Larry Waggoner.
Both Shontina and Johnny Mack Brown made their initial appearances in court Tuesday. They’re both being held without bond.
Shontina Brown has been arrested for the crime and now her husband has too.
