A Maryland woman has been accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from a mentally handicapped person for whom she worked.
Alexandria Police officials Tisa Dorsey was working as a cleaning lady for elderly Alexandria woman when she allegedly stole more than 100 checks and cashed them.
Authorities believe that, in total, the 29-year-old Greenbelt resident stole $87,415 from the victim between May of 2012 and August of 2013.
Dorsey is the first person to be charged under Virginia’s new law that pertains to the financial exploitation of a mentally incapacitated person.
