Black Fugitives Arrested for Double Murder of White Couple

Two men wanted for the murder of a Thunderbolt couple in Nov. 2013 have been arrested.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Michael Donta Jones for the offense of fugitive from justice.

On Oct. 22, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Thunderbolt Police Department that Jones, who was listed in NCIC as wanted person, was believed to be located in the Bluffton area of Beaufort County, SC.

Michael Donta Jones has now been charged with their murder.

Immediately, investigators assigned to the Southern Criminal Investigations Section working with members of the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force began to attempt to track down and locate Jones.

On Oct. 23, members with the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force working with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigators, Drug Investigators, SWAT and Canine located and arrested Jones in the area of 1460 Fording Island Road.

Jones was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he is currently incarcerated awaiting extradition back to Georgia.

Jones was wanted for two counts of felony murder, two counts of malice murder and two counts of aggravated assault which originated from a Nov.2013 investigation by the Thunderbolt Police Department in Georgia.

Nathaniel Wilkins has also been charged with 6 counts: 2 malice murders, 2 felony murders and 2 aggravated assaults.

The second suspect was also arrested on Friday for the double homicide. 26-year-old Nathaniel Willy Wilkins was arrested at 9:15 a.m. and is currently being held at the Chatham County Jail.

“They were a young couple. They were in love. They liked to have a good time obviously, but they were young. You are supposed to be young and have fun. You’re not supposed to lose your life like they did that night,” said Chief Robert Marriman, Thunderbolt policeman.

The couple, Alice Pendleton Stevens and Forrest Ison were murdered in their home Nov. 3, 2013, at approximately 11:44 p.m. at 3134 Robertson Avenue in Thunderbolt.
