Former Torrington High School student and football player Joan Toribio was handcuffed Tuesday and escorted away by marshals to begin serving a nine-month prison term for raping a 13-year-old girl.
The sentence was agreed upon in the same Litchfield Superior Court chamber in September, when the 18-year-old admitted raping a 13-year-old girl. The term is the minimum mandatory for a second-degree sexual assault charge.
