Gwinnett County police announced late Friday that a 16-year-old has been arrested in the stabbing death of a Dacula grandmother.
Police said James Watkins has been charged with the death of Margaret Sheffield, 77.
Investigators allege Watkins first robbed Sheffield then attacked her. A relative found the victim’s body, covered in blood, at her home on Track Way.
Family members told police they had not heard from Sheffield for 24 hours.
The suspect’s father spoke exclusively with CBS46. He said his son had one previous arrest but was an otherwise good kid.
Watkins’ father said his son had no known connection to the victim.
