Teresa Bass was shot dead and her husband left in critical condition after being shot ‘at random’ by a Black.

20-year-old Joshua Mebane was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder for the Nov. 2012 killing of a taxicab driver in Northeast, Washington.

In addition to the murder charge, Mebane was found guilty of nine other charges, including conspiracy, assault with intent to commit robbery while armed, and firearm offenses.

A co-defendant, Linda Bury, also 20, pled guilty to charges of second-degree murder while armed and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. She is awaiting sentencing.

According to police evidence, Mebane and Bury, both 17 years old at the time, met online in Oct. 2012. Displeased with their living situations, they planned to meet and run away together. On Nov. 1, 2012 Mebane took a taxi from his home in Waldorf, Md. to Bury’s home in Parkton, Md. Together, they took a cab to D.C. where they stayed at a motel in Northeast Washington from Nov. 2 to Nov. 7, 2012.

Joshua Mebane has been found guilty of ten other charges including murder, besides the killing of the White woman and attempted murder of her husband.

Realizing they were short on money, the two planned to commit a robbery of a taxicab driver on Nov. 7, 2012. Minutes before 9 p.m., they randomly hailed a taxicab driver, and instructed 44-year-old Muhammad Quadeer, to take them to the back of Hamilton Junior High School in the 1400 block of Brentwood Parkway NE.

Once there, Mebane put on a black latex glove, pulled out his 9 mm pistol and fatally shot Mr. Quadeer once in the back of the head.

Mebane and Bury then set the taxicab on fire with Mr. Quadeer inside.

Mebane is also reported to have murdered Teresa Bass while walking her dog on Oct. 26, 2012. He attempted to murder her husband too, shooting him multiple times.

Sentencing for Mebane will be held on Nov. 13, 2015. He could face decades in prison for the various crimes.
