When will these women learn to lose weight and date White?
NEWSCHANNEL 3:
Family has confirmed to Newschannel 3 that a West Michigan woman has died after a severe beating over the weekend, reportedly at the hands of her husband.
Christopher Carpenter is behind bars after police say he severely beat his wife Joy, then dropped her off at a hospital.
Police say Christopher Carpenter is a repeat offender, and after police confirmed Joy’s death Tuesday afternoon, they will pursue homicide charges.
Police say an argument between Joy and her husband turned violent inside a Battle Creek home on Saturday.
“It had something to do with possibly an accusation between a wife and husband as far as maybe someone outside of the relationship,” said Lieutenant Jim Martens, with Battle Creek Police.
Police say Joy was brutally beaten at the hands of her husband Christopher Carpenter–an attack Martens says should never be taken lightly.
“Chances are if this happens once to you, it is going to happen again,” Martens said.
Police say after she was beaten, she convinced her husband to take her to the hospital, but only if she agreed to say she was assaulted by a group of women.
“After he left from dropping her off, she advised police as to what had occurred, and that he had been the one that had assaulted her,” Martens said.
Police caught Carpenter soon after he dropped her off.
“He has been charged with aggravated assault, along with some other charges; he has a very hefty bond, and he is in jail at this time,” said Martens.
Family tells Newschannel 3 that Joy died shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Around 3 p.m., Battle Creek Police confirmed that they would be seeking homicide charges against Christopher Carpenter.
