Leatrice Brewer, who drowned her three children aged 1, 3 and 6 in a bathtub in Long Island apartment in 2008 is now in court seeking a portion of their $350,000 estate.
From Time:
Brewer, 33, was found not guilty of the bathtub drownings due to mental disease or defect. She reportedly believed she was saving her children from a voodoo curse and then tried (and failed) to commit suicide twice.
While her attorneys believe she shouldn’t be subject to the state law that prevent convicts from making money off of their crimes, the AP reports that Brewer probably wouldn’t receive any of the money because of a $1.2 million debt for her psychiatric counseling and services.
I’m not sure why these kids have a $350,000 estate.
