The suspect in the shooting death of a Smyrna animal lover at the Uptown Suites turned himself in to Smyrna Police on Tuesday afternoon.
Donavous Jerome Drennon, 35, was charged with criminal homicide in connection with the Friday night shooting.
On Friday, Robert Wilson, 37, was shot and killed after attempting to stop the abuse of a Yorkshire Terrier puppy outside his hotel room.
According to witnesses, a man matching Drennon’s description had been holding the puppy by the neck above the ground. Wilson was seen to confront the man about the mistreatment of the animal.
SPD report the suspect then pulled out a gun and shot Wilson in the chest. He later died as a result of his injuries at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center
