The man accused of killing a woman in the basement of a far east side home was found guilty on Thursday.
According to police, 21-year-old Shannon Kleeman was found dead in the basement of her step-mother’s home in the 600 block of Linwood Avenue in March 2014. Police arrested 52-year-old Morice Ervin in June 2014 on murder and rape charges.
A judge found Ervin guilty on both counts.

Police say that Ervin lived in a neighboring home when the murder took place.
The Marion County Coroner’s office says official cause of death was a shotgun wound to the head. Police say DNA aided in solving the case.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11.
