A BUPA nurse who left an elderly woman ‘whimpering with pain’ because of pressure sores that were down to her bone has been thrown out of the profession.
Emily Mabengeza – alongside nurses Louisa Mokhine, Nonhlanhla Maboitshego and Benedette Onyeanisi – left the pensioner without appropriate care for four months.
They then failed to update the woman’s care plan yet signed off a monthly monitoring form that they had.
Mabengeza also did not refer Resident A to a tissue viability nurse specialist who could have treated her wounds, the Nursing and Midwifery Council was told.
