A man accused of shooting and killing a man during a fight at a party has been found guilty of murder.
After a more than a week long trial, the jury came back with a guilty verdict on Thursday for Laron Jones in the death of 21-year-old Brandon Samuels.
Twenty-three-year-old Jones wounded Samuels in the neck during a party at a residence near North 24th and Ida streets in March 2014.

Samuels was taken to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center where he died.
“There was a girl at the party,” said Brandon’s sister, Christine Partridge. “Her boyfriend showed up and he was freaking out. He abused her. He was physically abusing her and everything. A couple of fights broke out because of it. The boyfriend was fighting everybody. He pulled a gun and started shooting.”
Jones will likely face life in prison.
