Yeah but what if he didn’t do nothing?

KTBS:

Funeral arrangements have been set for a Webster Parish sheriff’s deputy whose body was found late Monday in a shallow grave near her home in Homer.

Visitation for Sulyn Prince, 69, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Arcadia, with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday also at the church, according to Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton.

Meanwhile, the man accused in Prince’s death, Jermaine Johnson, sits in the Claiborne Parish Detention Center on a $1 million bond.

A Claiborne Parish district judge set bond Wednesday for the 35-year-old who is charged with second-degree murder.

State police arrested Johnson early Tuesday morning. The convicted rapist lived next door to Prince.

A definite determination has not been made on her cause of death as results from the autopsy performed Thursday at the state police crime lab are pending.

“It’s in the beginning stages of the investigation,” District Attorney Danny Newell said.

Newell said it’s still too early to talk about whether a grand jury will be impaneled to listen to evidence in the case or if the homicide charge will be upgraded.

“Everything is on the table at this stage,” said Newell, who explained he is unable to comment much on the case.

As far as speculation any others could have been involved in Prince’s death, Newell said, “I am confident we have the right person.”

Johnson was developed as a suspect as a team of law enforcement officers scoured the area around Prince’s home Monday after finding blood and other evidence in her home suggesting foul play. Authorities responded because of a welfare concern reported by one of Prince’s daughters who was unable to reach her Monday morning.

Prince, a well-liked and respected master control operator at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, worked her normal shift Sunday and left at 6 p.m. Prince previously worked at other corrections facilities in Claiborne Parish.

Cadaver dogs from the Shreveport Fire Department aided in the discovery of Prince’s body about a block away from her home on Bridges Street.
