James Washington will spend 65 years in prison for killing a Navy veteran from Jeffersonville. Washington was formally sentenced Monday afternoon in Clark County. He stabbed Robert Eader multiple times and slit his throat at his Spring Street apartment last year. Police said Washington went to collect cash from Eader for an earlier drug deal and when Eader pulled out extra money, Washington killed him for it.
It was an emotional day for the victim’s family. “We have some closure, but there’s still one more person involved in this and she’ll go to trail in March. When she gets what she deserves, maybe we can move on,” said Nancy Noe, Eader’s sister. That second suspect, Dana Eisenbeck, will stand trial next year. She’s accused of driving the getaway car. Washington claimed the killing was in self-defense.
