A Savannah man charged with murdering his fiancé was denied bond in court on Friday.
Willie Moore is accused of killing 37-year-old Mandi Kaiser after her body was found at an apartment complex on Apache Avenue on Feb. 18.
Moore has been in trouble with authorities before, and records show he’s been arrested 27 times since 1995. Many of those charges were battery and assault related.
Officials said Moore had been in the hospital and came to his hearing in a wheelchair where a judge denied bond on Friday. He’s charged with murdering his fiancé, Kaiser. Neighbors said they had recently moved into an apartment together on Apache Road, and they said they saw Kaiser and Moore the night before the murder happened.
Officials at Safe Shelter called Moore a serial abuser. There are other woman out there who said they were abused by him, and one of them even went to Safe Shelter for help.
“I am so thankful he’s arrested,” said Safe Shelter Executive Director, Cheryl Branch.
Branch said she is so relieved that Moore is behind bars, and said it was not too long ago when a young woman came to the shelter to get away from him. According to a police report, Moore was in a relationship with another woman in August of 2014.
The report said he became violent after he accused her of looking at other men. When she tried to calm him down, he bit her arm, hand, and even grabbed her neck.
“We did a protective order for her, and he just went on to somebody else, obviously,” Branch said.
Moore is now charged with Kaiser’s death. Neighbors said the couple had moved into the apartment complex earlier this month. The night before she was found, neighbors said they heard raised voices.
