The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint in Grand Bay this weekend. The suspect wasn’t after money or jewelry. He made off with a Yorkie puppy.

Wanda Thacker is a breeder and sells the dogs out of her home. She says the man came out to her house on Saturday to look at puppies.

He grabbed one and tried to make a run for it. Wanda says she chased him that’s when he pulled out his weapon.

“He stopped and got about five feet from his car and pulled a gun on me and said I will shot you,” said Thacker.

The victim wasn’t hurt, but the suspect did make off with the dog. He is described as a black male about 5’6 and 160 pounds. He was driving a silver mid-size Toyota sedan.

Thacker’s daughter says the puppy’s health is now a concern.

“First off he pulled a gun on my mother, second off he has essentially killed this puppy. A four week old puppy once taken from its mother has not immunity,” said Dana Baker.
