A suspect has been charged in the armed robbery and shooting of Chris Sanna, authorities said.
Kilwa Jones, 31, is charged with two counts of first degree assault, four counts of armed criminal action and two counts first degree robbery.
Sanna, a veteran of the US Army, and his girlfriend were walking to their vehicle near Walnut Street and Memorial Drive Friday night after the Cardinals’ game when a black sedan pulled up to them. Jones and another male suspect were inside the black sedan, police said at the time. The driver of the sedan exited the vehicle and demanded the victims’ property at gunpoint. Sanna’s girlfriend gave the man her purse, but Sanna was shot anyway, police said.
The bullet went through Sanna’s liver, spine, and lungs. Doctors believe the bullet may have caused paralysis.
Jones was originally in custody in St. Louis County on unrelated charges of domestic assault. County Police released a probable cause statement charging him with domestic assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
