Black Thief Arrested and Charged with Death of White Housemate

A Durham man was arrested in Columbia, South Carolina Tuesday in the Jan. 19 death of his 63-year-old housemate, police said.

Brian Lamont Davis, 40, was charged with murder in the death of Charles Hinnant, police said.

Hinnant’s body was found inside a home in the Colony Hill neighborhood in the morning of Jan. 19.

Davis is also charged with felony larceny, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, obtaining property by false pretense and possession of stolen goods, police said.
