Soloman Bygraves followed pensioner Stanley Evans into his block of flats in Soho, London, on Saturday, January 31 this year.
The 29-year-old then pushed Mr Evans over and lunged for his wallet – leaving the helpless victim on the ground for five minutes.
Mr Evans was eventually able to get to his feet and take a lift to his flat where he called 999.
Bygraves’ vile attack left his victim with a shoulder injury but, fortunately, he did not have to go to hospital for treatment.
Mr Evans, who was 92 at the time of the robbery, said he believed his attacker thought he was an “easy touch”.
He told ITV News: “I wasn’t scared, no. If I was fitter I would have gone out after him.
“I know he was desperate for money, to get drugs or something, or he might have thought ‘Oh, it’s an easy touch here, he can’t touch me even if he wants to’.”
