David Logterman was on his way to work at a hospital when the useless Black drunk crashed into him and killed him.

A man charged in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 57-year-old David Logterman has a history of DUI convictions and could get up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most serious allegations facing him.

George J. White, 46, who is originally from Rock Island, also goes by the name George White Jr. and may have used other aliases in the past.

He was arrested shortly after the crash, which happened before 5 a.m. Tuesday near the YMCA on Route 251.

According to Winnebago County Court documents, White was charged with reckless homicide, failure to report an accident involving death, aggravated DUI involving death, aggravated DUI of drugs and alcohol, aggravated DUI — fourth offense, and aggravated driving after license revocation.

White was previously convicted of DUI once in McLean County in June 1992 and twice in Rock Island County in April and November of 1997.

He also was convicted of driving with a suspended license three times from 1998 to 2002 in Rock Island County and Boone county, according to court documents.

White was sentenced in March 2011 to probation and work release after a reckless driving conviction stemming from a 2009 case, according to court records. Initial charges are likely to be replaced by a bill of indictment in coming weeks that could mean additional and more severe charges.

Logterman was on his way to work at SwedishAmerican Hospital at the time of the crash. He was employed at the hospital as an MRI technician.

Logterman also served 13 years as the head swim coach at Harlem High School.
