Zoe Reed was shot in the gut by the non-White reprobates during a hold-up.

All four of the people accused in the shooting of a Domino’s Pizza employee during a robbery in September were indicted last week by a Boyle County grand jury, including a juvenile who will now be treated as an adult by the court system.

Nathaniel Sinclair Davis, 16, of Harrodsburg, was picked out of a police photo lineup as the “possible shooter” by Zoe Reed, the Domino’s worker who was shot in the stomach and suffered life-threatening injuries during the Sept. 15 hold-up at the Fourth Street restaurant.

Davis was indicted on charges of first-degree robbery and first-degree assault, along with alleged co-conspirators Robin Adams, 26, and Patrick Brand, 21, both of Danville, and Rico Penix, 19, of Harrodsburg.

All four will be arraigned before Boyle Circuit Judge Darren Peckler on Tuesday.

Reed’s father, Paul Reed, said Friday that his daughter continues to make strides her recovery, though the process has been difficult.

Patrick Brand is one of those accused of taking part in the armed robbery.

“We are very grateful Zoe is doing well. It is expected that she continues to have bumps in the road and next Wednesday she will have yet another surgery that will test her metal,” Paul Reed said. “The mental anguish is every bit as challenging as the physical aspect of this ordeal.

“The guys who did this may be in jail but they can’t even begin to realize the level of pain and despair Zoe deals with when she has set backs and more procedures. I comfort myself in the knowledge that it could have been much worse, and as long as she can walk, talk and persevere through this, she’ll be all right.

Davis was transferred from the juvenile system after a confidential hearing last month in Boyle District Court, after which Judge Jeff Dotson determined that Davis met the criteria for being treated as an adult. The alleged crimes are both Class B felonies, a firearm was used and Davis was at least 14 years old when the crimes were committed, Dotson noted.

“It is mandated by statute the child shall be transferred to Boyle Circuit Court for trial as an adult,” the judge wrote.

During a preliminary hearing in October, Danville Detective Lisa Graff testified that Adams told police that she and Brand waited outside in the car while Penix and Davis went inside Domino’s to rob the store of cash. Prior to the robbery, Brand’s cell phone was used to place a fake pizza order to lure the delivery driver from the store, according to police.

Dotson had set bonds for the four suspects at $500,000 each . Peckler reduced the bonds to $50,000 after the indictments moved them to circuit court.

As of Saturday, Adams, Penix and Brand remained in the Boyle County Detention Center. Davis is being housed at the Lincoln Village Secure Juvenile Detention Facility in Elizabethtown.

Danville Detective Robert Ladd testified before the grand jury in all four cases.
