Update 2:

New picture of the bomber has been released. He has been identified by police as Akayed Ullah.

Police have also confirmed that it was a botched suicide bombing attempt.

Update:

We finally have a picture of the bomber. Looks like he really messed himself up with that bomb. Hopefully he learned a valuable life lesson and will be a bit more careful next time!

No surprise here. The bomber was inspired by ISIS and possibly from Bangladesh. One thing is for sure, this was not a White guy from Norway who did it. The picture shows that conclusively.

NY Post:

An ISIS-inspired suicide bomber set off a homemade explosive device at the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station Monday morning, law enforcement sources said.

The man — a 27-year-old who lived in Brooklyn and is possibly of Bangladeshi origin — had wires attached to him and a 5-inch metal pipe bomb and battery pack strapped to his midsection as he walked through the Manhattan transit hub, sources said.

The man partially detonated the device, which he was carrying under the right side of his jacket, prematurely inside the passageway to the A, C and E trains at 8th Avenue and W. 42ndStreet at around 7:40 a.m., sources said.

Breaking news story here.

There are reports of an explosion occurring in the bus terminal of a New York City subway station. It looks like this may have been an attempted pipe bombing or suicide bombing gone wrong. The bomber seems to have blown himself up by mistake.

Police have a man in custody but have yet to identify him.

The Sun:

THERE are fears New York suffered another terror attack today following an explosion at Port Authority Bus Terminal near Times Square.

Police have yet to reveal the nature of the device but local reports suggest a suicide belt or pipe bomb detonated prematurely underground at the packed bus and train interchange.

Witnesses reported a stampede as panicked commuters rushed to escape the scene, but police said the suspect was the only person injured.

An officer reportedly told CBS News that cops are looking at a possible suicide bomber, although the situation is said to be “fluid”.

One man has been taken into police custody with non life-threatening injuries.

The New York Post citing police sources said “wires” were seen protruding from the suspect’s body in the aftermath of the blast. Police have yet to comment on this.

Here’s a few news clips on the situation.

The New York City Police Department has so far only issued this statement to describe what’s going on.

Other than that, we don’t know a whole lot else. Even though we can’t say for certain, the chances of the bomber being a Moslem is high. Nearly every type of incident we have seen like this has involved a Moslem or a group of Moslems being responsible.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
