Brazil’s 514-seat lower house voted by a 367-137 vote late Sunday in favour of impeaching Rousseff over allegations she hid and manipulated federal budgets during her 2014 re-election bid.
Anti-government protesters are celebrating in Brasilia after the lower house of Brazil’s Congress voted for the president’s impeachment. The ruling Workers’ Party has admitted defeat with the party’s leader in the chamber, Jose Guimaraes, saying the battle will now move into the Senate.
