The Boomer hate is at critical levels. And no, it’s not the Alt-Right who is to blame.
Turns out that it’s the left who hates the Boomers more than anyone else.
Ambitious, young House Democrats have a problem: At a time when the party is calling for generational change, there are few opportunities to advance.
Leadership has long been static for Democrats in the House. Reps. Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, and Jim Clyburn, the top three Democrats, respectively, have all been at the top of the House Democratic ladder for more than a decade. And none have shown any signs of leaving; Pelosi has said she expects to be speaker if Democrats retake the House in November.
That stagnation has some Democrats worried that their caucus is bleeding talent, and it has left two options for the party’s rising stars — try to work their way up outside of the traditional leadership structure or head for the exits.
Boomers are between a rock and a hard place.
They aren’t exactly loved by anybody these days. Except Indian telephone scammers.
One thing that Boomers don’t get any credit for is their ability to just… sit there.
Sit there and sponge it up. Just really dig in and wait.
Asked if he agreed with the assessment that talented members are walking out the door because they don’t see a path up in the ranks, California Rep. Juan Vargas said, “that’s probably true.”
“It seems like there’s a number of people that I think could have done very well here that decided to leave,” Vargas said, pointing to Becerra as an example. “I think there’s an issue there that obviously everybody’s focused on. You know, we have to figure out how to keep very talented people and give them opportunities for advancement.”
Translation: Boomers don’t want to give up their paychecks. On a deeper level, they are simply busy-bodies. Retirement would kill them. They’d rather work as Walmart greeters than just, you know, chill out, read a book, spend some time with the grandkids, and prepare for death with some fucking dignity.
But no.
The Walmart greeter mentality extends to Congress.
So now there’s a point of conflict between lefty Boomers and their devil spawn. Me, I hope the crazy brown Communists take the whole party over.
But knowing how… resilient the Boomers are, I just can’t be sure.
Keep at it though, crazy Communists.
I hope and pray for your success in taking over the DNC.
