Not a week goes by without a smiting now.
The tenure of Jeff Fager as the executive producer of 60 Minutes is over.
“Jeff Fager is leaving the company effective immediately,” CBS News president David Rhodes said Wednesday in a statement. “Bill Owens will manage the 60 Minutes team as Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews and I begin the search for a new executive producer of the program. 60 Minutes is the most significant news broadcast on television.”
Added Rhodes: “We are fortunate to have incredibly talented journalists in place who we know will continue to deliver our defining investigative work. This action today is not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports, which continue to be investigated independently. However, he violated company policy and it is our commitment to uphold those policies at every level. [CBS acting CEO] Joe Ianniello is in full support of this decision and the transition to come.”
A CBS News spokesperson declined to identify the company policy Fager violated, but Fager shed light on it in a statement of his own: “The company’s decision had nothing to do with the false allegations printed in The New Yorker. Instead, they terminated my contract early because I sent a text message to one of our own CBS reporters demanding that she be fair in covering the story. My language was harsh and, despite the fact that journalists receive harsh demands for fairness all the time, CBS did not like it. One such note should not result in termination after 36 years, but it did.”
Damn. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be a normie careerman in a non-IT field. Anyone with any sort of power and responsibility who is White must feel like the gun sights are aimed squarely at them at this point, no?
I much prefer my job. If I went so far as to grab some random chick’s titty, I’d probably get a raise, not a SMITE.
Speaking of bosses, this guy’s boss got in trouble too. For groping tiddies, I assume.
In recent months, Moonves has become a prominent voice in Hollywood’s #MeToo movement. In December, he helped found the Commission on Eliminating Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the Workplace, which is chaired by Anita Hill. “It’s a watershed moment,” Moonves said at a conference in November. “I think it’s important that a company’s culture will not allow for this. And that’s the thing that’s far-reaching. There’s a lot we’re learning. There’s a lot we didn’t know.”
But Moonves’s private actions belie his public statements. Six women who had professional dealings with him told me that, between the nineteen-eighties and the late aughts, Moonves sexually harassed them. Four described forcible touching or kissing during business meetings, in what they said appeared to be a practiced routine. Two told me that Moonves physically intimidated them or threatened to derail their careers. All said that he became cold or hostile after they rejected his advances, and that they believed their careers suffered as a result.
Ah, who smelt it dealt it. You know what I mean? Like, the guys who talk about workplace sex sensitivity were always the ones trying to get a pity squeeze in during the 80s.
At this point, any man-feminist is suspect. Because, well, all the shitlords have been purged long long before the #metoo stuff got underway.
There’s none of us left, so it was only natural that out of touch yesteryear liberals had to become the next targets – the new Nazis as it were.
Can’t say I’m too mad about this smiting though. Feels justified somehow.
BAM! You got SMITED mothafucka! GO HOME YOU OLD BOOMER! BOOYEEEH!
