China has put an incredibly powerful surveillance system in place. This is some crazy stuff.
BBC:
Chinese police have used facial recognition technology to locate and arrest a man who was among a crowd of 60,000 concert goers.
The suspect, who has been identified only as Mr Ao, was attending a concert by pop star Jacky Cheung in Nanchang city last weekend when he was caught.
Police said the 31-year-old, who was wanted for “economic crimes”, was “shocked” when he was caught.
China has a huge surveillance network of over 170 million CCTV cameras.
Could you imagine being able to tell Chinamen apart? That’s some really sophisticated AI. I’m impressed and shocked.
This is not the first time Chinese police have used facial recognition systems to catch suspects.
In August last year, police in Shandong province arrested 25 suspects using a facial recognition system that was set up at the Qingdao International Beer Festival.
China is a world leader in facial recognition technology and regularly reminds its citizens that such equipment will make it almost impossible to evade the authorities.
The country has been building what it calls “the world’s biggest camera surveillance network”.
You know what other country is also a CCTV surveillance state?
It’s funny, but when I was a kid, I used to follow and listen to tech developments with excitement and bated breath.
I couldn’t wait for robots and cyborgs and all the cool stuff that the future promised.
Instead, I became witness to the Spic-Nig cycle.
I saw our divergence into nigger-tech dystopia instead of a glorious space empire.
I stopped going to Sharper Image on the weekends with my dad and started reading cyberpunk instead.
I realized that technology would only make the world worse from here on out – not better. Now, I’ve become something of a Neo-Amish believer. I think consumer technology should be capped at levels it was at in the nineties. No more cellphones, only walkmans and landlines so that you have to leave your house to buy CDs and you have to actually keep your word when you say you’ll be somewhere – because you can’t flake last minute.
Furthermore, our Chink/AI/ZOG overlords won’t be able to spy on us all the time.
Idk about you, but I don’t like the idea that I’m being watched all the time, even if it’s “for my safety” or whatever. As long as I am allowed to conceal-carry, I feel like I can take care of my own safety just fine, thanks.
I never asked for this…
