If only we had been as dedicated to combating our emissions as we were about fighting Zerg.
We posted earlier about how Climate Change might be code for White eradication, but did you know it might be responsible for exterminating all alien life?
According to certain tech websites it just might be!
Their argument is built on two well-known principles:
The first is the Fermi Paradox, which postulates that given the high probability of planets similar to ours existing, as well as the amount of time that the universe has been around for, aliens should have discovered our planet by now (implying they haven’t). However, the wokest of us would argue against this by pointing out we are the aliens.
The second principle is known as the Great Filter, and in the context of the Fermi Paradox, it basically supposes that the reason we haven’t been visited is due to a large challenge at the end of this filter which no sentient species has made it through.
Normally, the filter is theorized to be nuclear weapons or similar planet destroying armaments. However in this extremely (and soon to be UN-funded) hot take, author and super-genius Karla Lant argues it might be due to climate change.
Climate change, if it is allowed to continue, will eventually devastate much of life on Earth as we know it. It was the remarkably stable climate of the past 12,000 years or so that has allowed human civilization to flourish, benefitting from agriculture and eventually industrialization (although ironically that may also be our undoing).
Recent research points to several characteristics of species more likely to survive the rigors of a planet ravaged by climate change: two of the most vital being an indiscriminate palate and a rapid reproductive cycle. Therefore, humans are basically the opposite of the types of creatures considered to be prime survivors.
In other words, although things wouldn’t unfold in the same ways on different planets, it’s possible that there are so many hurdles for life to clear that other civilizations haven’t made it.
If this theory is correct, that would mean… Fuck, the only remaining aliens are tree-hugging hippies.
The future has never been gayer.
However, if climate change can be a filter, then so too can immigration. Consider it: immigration leads to lower fertility, lower IQ, lower social trust, violence, rape and destruction of society… Perhaps that is a civilizational challenge that all sufficiently evolved lifeforms must face?
We even call them illegal aliens.
