Prosecutors have filed charges against a man currently serving time in prison after they say he killed two men and sexually assaulted a woman on the city’s north side three years ago.
Marcus Allen Howell was charged Wednesday, June 24, with two counts of felony murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct in an Aug. 5, 2012, attack that left 54-year-old Randy Phillips and 40-year-old Patrick H. Boven dead.
The two were found shot to death around 5:30 a.m. inside the home on Dayton Street. Police said a woman had apparent knife wounds to her neck and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911, saying that someone broke into the home killing the two men and cutting her several times.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the investigation revealed the woman was also sexually assaulted during the attack.
