WDBJ:
A judge in Montgomery County Circuit Court sentenced Cyron Stokes to life plus 10 years in prison Friday.
Stokes pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder January 31 as part of an agreement with prosecutors. He was accused of killing Amy Byrd Shrader, an employee of Anderson Audiology, and for trying to kill Tracy Neyhart, a Blacksburg attorney.
Stokes’ crime was carried out on January 6, 2017. Police at the time said Shrader suffered stab wounds to the neck and was laying on top of a steak knife when she was found by officers in a bathroom at Anderson Audiology.
Stokes is deaf and was a patient of the hearing aid clinic. Shrader was sitting at the front desk. During a hearing in January, 2018 prosecutors said Stokes lured Shrader into a restroom, claiming there was an issue, and locked the door behind him. That’s when he told investigators he attacked her with a knife and sexually assaulted her.
