Well, France, known for honoring free speech as the most important of their society’s values, has convicted a Black guy for making a joke about Jews. This country, where free speech is held sacred, locks people up for mocking Jews constantly, but this case was so high-profile even I had thought they might back down.
At least they’re not sending him to prison, as they do many others who are convicted of causing Jews to feel that feel of remembering the gas chambers.
The provocative French comedian Dieudonné M’bala M’bala was found guilty on Wednesday of condoning terrorism after a Facebook message he posted in January suggested sympathy with one of the gunmen in the attacks that killed 17 people in Paris.
The court in Paris gave him a suspended two-month jail sentence.
Mr. M’bala M’bala was convicted under a new law enacted in November meant to rein in speech supporting terrorism. The law was aggressively enforced by the French authorities in the wake of the January attacks.
While the law allows for up to seven years in prison and 100,000 euros in fines, prosecutors in Mr. M’bala M’bala’s case had sought a fine of €30,000, or $32,000, converted into 200 days of jail time if he failed to pay.
Just days after the attacks that killed 12 people at the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, one municipal police officer south of Paris, and four people at a kosher supermarket, Mr. M’bala M’bala wrote on his Facebook page that he felt like “Charlie Coulibaly.”
The message, which blended the popular “I am Charlie” slogan with the name of the gunman at the supermarket, Amedy Coulibaly, was posted on a day when millions had rallied around France to condemn the attacks.
David de Stefano, one of Mr. M’bala M’bala’s lawyers, said in a telephone interview that they would appeal Wednesday’s conviction.
“When you put that phrase back in the context of all the other messages he published on Facebook, you realize that he had a peaceful approach,” Mr. de Stefano said. “Publicly and repeatedly, he paid tribute to all the victims of the attacks and clearly condemned the acts.”
Obviously, no one believes that Dieudonné is violent. That is not even the argument being made. The argument is apparently that he could encourage someone else to be violent, but that is stupid. He isn’t even a Moslem, and is certainly not a figure of jihadism. He’s a comedian. And the post was a joke. It was basically a self-deprecating joke, making fun of his own image as an enemy of the Jews.
All this is is harassment by the French ZOG of a man who has repeatedly shown himself as willing to stand up and say the truth about these Jews.
It is very difficult to grasp that this arrest was made at the exact time that millions of French were out on the street ostensibly demonstrating in support of free speech, saying “I am Charlie,” in reference to a satirical magazine whose free speech actually really did cause violence.
If you really wanted to restrict speech for the purpose of preventing violence, you would ban making fun of Moslems, as this is one form of speech that has already been demonstrated, beyond any shadow of a doubt, to cause violence. It happens constantly.
Of course, I don’t support limiting the rights of people to mock Moslems. But to say “yes, you can mock Moslems but you can’t hurt the feelings of Jews” is clearly insane, and I am baffled by the fact that the mainstream has not be forced to acknowledge how insane this is.
