Police are hoping surveillance video will help catch the man who robbed a 94-year-old man outside a Leesburg Publix.
Police say the suspect was standing behind Donald Harshbarger, 94, in the checkout line at a Leesburg Publix on 14th Street near State Road 441.
As Harshbarger left the store, video shows the suspect following him outside to the parking lot.
Police then say the suspect then approached the World War II veteran and asked for change for a $50.
Harshbarger says when he took out his wallet, the man snatched it. Several hours later, police found his wallet in the trash with $200 missing.
Harshbarger told Local 6 that he was happy to have his wallet back and said he hopes the man who stole his money used it for a good cause.
“I hope he needed the money real bad. I hope he had a family to feed or something,” said Harshbarger.
The suspect is described was a heavy-set man, in his late teens to early 20s.
