Winter Haven Police have made an arrest in the murder of a homeless man.

Police say James Stewart was found deceased in Inman Park on March 1st. On Thursday, police arrested 43-year-old Demarco Ginn of Winter Haven in connection to his murder.

Detectives linked Ginn to the murder after finding blood on a pair of jeans in a duffle bag belonging to him which matched Stewart’s DNA.

Detectives also learned of the connection between the two by witnesses who stated  that Stewart received monthly checks and with the most recent check purchased a bike that he obtained while Ginn was nearby. After Stewart was found dead, detectives say Ginn was seen attempting to sell the bike. However, to date, the bike has not been located.

The medical examiner concluded that Stewart was stabbed in the head and neck multiple times, one which was to his jugular vein.

Ginn’s been charged with first-degree murder and robbery.
