Dey wite muffugguhs fink a nigga gots ol da time in da muffuggen wirld, fink a nigga ain’t gots shit ta doo but goesn stans in da muffuggen line, be put his vote in.
Now dees wity muffuggehs be tell da nigga he cains vote by tex.
I ain’t beleeb dis shit, nigga. Ah be voten ba text.
Wow.
That’s a lot of news articles.
The question here is: if this many voters actually believe you can vote by text message, doesn’t that mean that democracy is obviously, on the face of it, a ridiculous concept?
I mean, huge numbers of people are apparently so absolutely uninformed about basic reality that they think it makes sense that you would be able to vote for the President like you vote for American Idol contestants – and that is who is steering the direction of our country.
In a responsible society, you would think that anyone would say “yeah, well, anyone who is so stupid and uninformed that they think you can vote by text message probably shouldn’t play a role in deciding the future of our society.”
But no.
The media launches a gigantic campaign specifically targeting people who think it’s possible to vote by text message, telling them to go out and vote for real.
It seems to me that it would be difficult to come up with a better argument against democracy than this right here.
