If you say that Erdogan hoaxed last year’s coup he will order your head cut off!
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has marked the anniversary of a failed military coup by threatening to behead traitors. They held a rally and unveiled a monument in Istanbul to commemorate the occasion. He definitely wanted to make a big deal about this.
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to behead traitors in an emotional address to tens of thousands of people on the first anniversary of the country’s failed military coup.
Mr Erdogan told the vast, flag-waving crowd the attempt to end his more than a decade-long rule was “not the first attack against our country, and it won’t be the last”.
“Exactly a year ago today, around this hour, a treacherous attempt took place,” he said.
Then, referring to a series of terror attacks that hit Turkey over the last year, he added: “For that reason, we’ll first cut the heads off of these traitors.”
Mr Erdogan took part in a national unity march in Istanbul, converging at the July 15 Martyrs’ Bridge, formally called the Bosphorus Bridge, to remember 250 people who died on this day last year trying to resist the coup.
This is all very funny considering that there’s a great deal of evidence to indicate that Erdogan staged the coup himself in order to humiliate and discredit the Turkish military. This was primarily because of how disorganized and dysfunctional it was. They even tried to blame some dude in Pennsylvania for orchestrating it. The whole situation was extremely goofy and weird.
What we can say for certain is that Erdogan gained the most from it. He consolidated power and ordered massive purges.
When the situation was unfolding, Andrew Anglin penned an article analyzing how it was most likely a hoax staged by Erdogan. The article generated tremendous interest in Turkey. Other stories detailing how it was probably a hoax were featured on Matt Drudge’s website and others. This was hardly a fringe view when it happened.
Unfortunately, none of this matters now. If you question the official coup narrative, Erdogan has said that he’ll cut off your head!
