Christodoulos Xiros

Things are happening in Greece.

Christodoulos Xiros, a hardcore far-left extremist who escaped from police custody earlier this month has released a video vowing violent action against the Greek government.

From the BBC:

Christodoulos Xiros, who was convicted in 2003 of belonging to the far-left November 17 organisation, has vowed to return to arms.

He was serving six life sentences for bombings and shootings.

He vanished in January while on leave from prison to visit his family.

In a video posted on the internet, Xiros said: “I’ve decided to fire the guerrilla shotgun against those who stole our lives and sold our dreams for profit.”

He criticises the media, the judiciary, the police and the extreme right-wing Golden Dawn party, and invites Greece’s security forces to join with him.

He also condemns the two parties in Greece’s governing coalition, the conservative New Democracy and the socialist Pasok, accusing them of treason and stating that the “price of their treason is death“.

This situation is both strange and exciting. It isn’t everyday a convicted bomber escapes from prison and vows to begin bombing again.

It is interesting that Xiros would be speaking against the Golden Dawn and the avowed enemy of the Golden Dawn, which is the present establishment. Presumably, all things being equal, the goals of a far-left extremist would be very similar to those of a far-right extremist – both parties oppose international capitalism, the present austerity measures, the lying media, the oppression of the working class and so on.

It seems that in such an extreme situation as Greece is presently in, a leftist extremist could be sympathetic with the Golden Dawn.

November 17, 1973. Athens.

What is N17?

Here is a bit of background on 17 November:

Revolutionary Organization 17 November (Greek: Επαναστατική Οργάνωση 17 Νοέμβρη, Epanastatiki Organosi dekaefta Noemvri), (also known as 17N) was a Marxist urban guerrilla organization (characterized as a terrorist group by the Greek state, United States, and the United Kingdom) formed in 1975 and believed to have been disbanded in 2002 after the arrest and trial of a number of its members. The group assassinated 23 people in 103 attacks on U.S., British, Turkish and Greek targets. They were named after the day of the 1973 Athens Polytechnic uprising against the military junta.

[…]

17N’s first attack, on 23 December 1975, was against the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency’s station chief in Athens, Richard Welch. Welch was gunned down outside his residence by four assailants, in front of his wife and driver. 17N’s repeated claims of responsibility were ignored until December 1976, when it murdered the former intelligence chief of the Greek security police, Evangelos Mallios and left its proclamation at the scene. In January 1980 17N murdered Pantelis Petrou, the deputy director of the riot police (MAT) and his driver.

[…]

17N resumed its attacks in November 1983, killing the deputy chief of the U.S. military assistance mission (JUSMAGG) George Tsantes. In 1985 it broadened its targeting with the murder of conservative newspaper publisher Nikos Momferatos. The proclamation left near his body accused Momferatos of CIA connections and complained that Greece “remained a puppet regime in the hands of the American imperialists and the economic establishment.” In 1986, 17N murdered Dimitris Angelopoulos, one of Greece’s leading industrialists, charging that he and other members of Greece’s “lumpen big bourgeoisie class” were plundering Greece at the expense of workers.

[…]

The assassination of New Democracy member of parliament Pavlos Bakoyannis in September 1989 prompted public outrage, including among Greek communists who respected Bakoyannis as a courageous anti-Junta journalist. The group abandoned its electoral pretensions and took a more nationalist turn.

Other victims included Captain William Nordeen USN, the U.S. defense attache, whose car was destroyed by a car bomb a few meters from his residence on 28 June 1988, and U.S. Air Force Sergeant Ronald O. Stewart, who was killed by a remotely detonated bomb outside his apartment on 12 March 1991.

In addition to its anti-American and anti-capitalist agenda, the group was also opposed to Turkey and NATO. Çetin Görgü, Turkish press attaché, shot in his car on 7 October 1991; Ömer Haluk Sipahioğlu, Turkish embassy counselor, shot on an Athens street on 4 July 1994; ship and shipyard owner Constantinos Peratikos, shot leaving his office on 28 May 1997; and Brigadier Stephen Saunders on 8 June 2000.

17N used as its “signature weapons” two .45 M1911 semi-automatics. While face-to-face assassination was the early modus operandi, in 1985 the group exploded its first bomb, using a long cable to detonate stolen quarrying explosives, against a bus full of riot police, killing one.

So, one surely cannot accuse them of not being hardcore enough.

I generally prefer not to delve into conspiracy theories unless there is sufficient evidence, in this particular case, one has to wonder if this is not some type of Jewish plot. It sure does seem strange that a man serving six life sentences for terrorism would be let out of prison to visit his family. It is even more strange that a convicted terrorist let out to visit his family wouldn’t be watched pretty closely.

Though it could possibly have happened, the story is definitely ridiculous.

Charismatic men who believe what they're saying and don't fear death: This is what Jews fear most.
Charismatic men who believe what they’re saying and don’t fear death: This is what Jews fear most.

With the rise of the Golden Dawn, the Jews are in a panic. We were all wondering what they were going to do after botching the job last year, arresting the leadership and turning them into martyrs.  It looks like resurrecting a leftist terrorist organization through a dramatic prison escape and ensuing assassinations (which haven’t happened yet, but the history of this group shows that they are about to start if they said they are about to start) is very probably part of the plan.

Interestingly enough, conspiracy theories have surrounded 17 November for decades.

Firstly, it has been repeatedly alleged by conservative politicians and the conservative media in Greece that N17 was a branch of the liberal establishment, directly linked to the PASOK party and prime minister Andreas Papandreou (father of the as of late Prime Minister of Greece, George Papandreou, who resigned in 2011).

In 2000, the Guardian reported:

The group’s extraordinary durability has fuelled speculation that it has the protection of powerful figures within the Greek establishment. In an interview published in Greece on the day that Saunders died, James Woolsey, who headed the CIA between 1993 and 1998, claimed that individuals in the ruling Socialist Pasok party ‘knew’ members of November 17. Yesterday, the Greek courts challenged Woolsey to name the Greeks and Greek Cypriots he believed were members of the group. His allegations appear to be based on Pasok’s origins as an armed resistance movement.

Formed as the Panhellenic Resistance Movement (PAK) by the late Andreas Papandreou, former Prime Minister, the movement fought the hated ‘Colonels’ who ruled Greece from 1967 to 74 and was openly supported by the Americans.

But few are optimistic of early success. Even Greek officials admit that for a long time there has been little ‘political will’ to deal with N17. Many Greeks saw it as a Robin Hood-type outfit targeting the rich and representatives of foreign countries bent on meddling in Greek affairs. With its populist and at times even amusing declarations, N17 fired the popular imagination.

Right-wing journalist Giorgos Karatzaferis, who later went on to found the LAOS party, also claimed that terrorism in Greece was controlled by Papandreist officers operating out of the National Intelligence Service, which is the Greek version of the CIA.

An alternate theory, which need not conflict with what is outlined above, is that N17 was a remnant of NATO’s Operation Gladio.

The "Marxist Guerillas" who killed Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro were almost certainly operating as a part of the CIA's Operation Gladio.
The “Marxist Guerillas” who killed Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro were almost certainly operating as a part of the CIA’s Operation Gladio.

Gladio was the Italian name of a stay-behind clandestine Western intelligence operation which manipulated European politics to an extent that is still not agreed upon via subversive tactics which included political assassination.  The goal of the organization was to bully the European political establishment into adoption policies favored by the US and Britain.

The BBC produced an informative documentary on the topic.

The Greek version of Gladio was called “Sheepskin.”  In 2005, Greek journalist Kleanthis Grivas wrote a piece outlining his assertion that N17 was a part of this program.

The US government felt the claims were worthy of an official response.  From that lengthy response:

In December 2005, misinformation resurfaced in Greece claiming, falsely, that a secret “stay behind” network, which the Greek government had set up with CIA assistance, had committed acts of terrorism. During the Cold War, West European countries set up clandestine “stay behind” networks, which were designed to form the nucleus of resistance movements if the Soviet Union invaded and occupied Western Europe.

The Greek writer making the claim – and a Swiss researcher who wrote a 2005 book on the “stay behind” networks – both give credence to a Soviet forgery from the 1970s, which has long been publicly identified as a phony document.

“Gladio,” which means “sword” in Italian, was the name the Italian government chose for the “stay behind” network it established in the early days of the Cold War. Other West European governments formed similar networks.

During World War II, anti-Nazi resistance movements had sprung up throughout Europe, but supplying them by airdrops and other risky measures had been difficult and uncertain. The “stay behind” networks sought to avoid such problems by stockpiling weapons in secret caches ahead of time, and recruiting volunteers who would form the core of resistance movements, if needed. The program remained one of the Cold War’s best-kept secrets until it was revealed in late 1990, first in Italy and then in other West European countries.

The alleged Soviet forgery which is referred to here is US Army Field Manual 30-31B, known as the “Westmoreland Field Manual,” which I seriously doubt is actually a forgery.

The US Army Field Manual 30-31B is an alleged classified appendix to a US Army Field Manual that describes top-secret counter insurgency tactics. In particular, it identifies a strategy of tension involving violent attacks which are then blamed on radical left-wing groups in order to convince allied governments of the need for counter-action. It has been called the Westmoreland Field Manual because it is signed with the alleged signature of General William Westmoreland. It was labeled as supplement B (hence “30-31B”), however, the publicly released version of FM 30-31 only has one appendix, Supplement A.

The U.S. government describes the document as a forgery. The document first appeared in Turkey in the 1970s, before being circulated to other countries. It was also used at the end of the 1970s to implicate the Central Intelligence Agency in the Red Brigades’ kidnapping and assassination of former Italian prime minister Aldo Moro.

[…]

The “Westmoreland Field Manual” was mentioned in at least two parliamentary commissions reports of European countries, one about the Italian Propaganda Due masonic lodge, and one about the Belgian stay-behind network. The latter says that “the commission has not any certainty about the authenticity of the document”.

[…]

The discovery in the early 1990s of the Operation Gladio (NATO stay-behind networks) in Europe led to renewed debate as to whether or not the manual was fraudulent. The former deputy director of the CIA, Ray S. Cline, has stated he “suspects” it to be genuine. According to Daniele Ganser, Licio Gelli, the Italian leader of the anti-Communist P2 freemason lodge bluntly told the BBC’s Allan Francovich, “The CIA gave it to me“.

Given what I have outlined here, there is significant reason to believe that 17 November was at least associated with the Greek and American establishment.  Even if we decide this is the case, however, that does not mean that Christodoulos Xiros himself is directly tied to the intelligence apparatus, or that his escape is part of an intelligence operation.  It simply makes it very likely.

Ultimately, these truths will make themselves evident as events begin to unfold in the coming year.

What are These Jews Up to?

Let us assume, for a moment, that the escape of Xiros and the subsequent relaunch of 17 November is indeed part of a Jewish plot.  What could be the purpose?

The most obvious answer is that they are staging a resurrection of a terrorist group known to commit assassinations as cover for intelligence-op assassinations of the Golden Dawn leadership.

Before the release of Xiros, any assassination, or attempt at such, of the party’s leadership would have been immediately pinned on the Jews, the Americans and their puppet Greek government.  Xiros and his threats have changed that.

The murders of Giorgos Fountoulis and Manos Kapelonis were clearly not done by the Jewish establishment, as they served only to bolster support for the Golden Dawn by providing them with martyrs.  However, this showed that there was an organic left-wing terrorist organization willing and capable of committing murder.

The deaths of Giorgos Fountoulis and Manos Kapelonis only boosted support for the Popular Nationalist party.
The deaths of Giorgos Fountoulis and Manos Kapelonis only boosted support for the Popular Nationalist party.

If Xiros is an intelligence asset – note that if he hadn’t been already, being released from prison for a chance to eat, drink and make love again probably would have been enough to turn him – he could be positioned as leader of whatever organic left-wing resistance was responsible for the murders of the two Golden Dawn members, and orchestrate an assassination of the leadership of the party.

That would probably, in real life, play out thusly: the CIA and/or Israeli Mossad would do the actual assassinations of the key figures in the party, and Xiros would then release another video on the internet claiming credit.

Though security is high at Golden Dawn offices, during my time in Greece I found that the leadership did not take particularly high precautions when moving in public.  I assume this has changed since the killings.  But avoiding a CIA assassination squad is highly difficult, even on red alert.

2014 is going to be a very interesting year.  Athens, birthplace of Western Civilization, is Ground Zero for the war between the forces of Darkness and Light.

May God guide the European people.

Hail Victory.
