Facebook Taps NATO Think Tank to Help Them Censor Thoughts and Ideas

Poor autistic communist Chinaman Mark Zuckerberg didn’t know what to do at his Congressional hearing.

No one ever gave him any set of rules, yet he was being attacked as though he had broken rules. As if it had been his job to figure out his own law for something which was never legislated, and he was guilty for having not done so.

So, because the government refuses to regulate these companies even still, he is bringing in a third party to do his censorship for him so he can have someone to blame.

RT:

Under tremendous pressure from politicians and mainstream media, Facebook and other social networks have turned to purging content, viewpoints and even users that the powers-that-be have declared objectionable.

Still angry over the 2016 US presidential election, Democrats blame social media for giving President Donald Trump and his supporters a voice and claim the likes of Facebook and Twitter have served as platforms for “Russians” to “influence” US public opinion – against Hillary Clinton, that is.

Repeatedly told to sort out the “Russians,” Facebook, Twitter and Google have turned to throttling posts, suspending and even banning some users. First it was the “suspected Russian” accounts, based among other things on whether they were posting in Cyrillic. Then they demonetized, throttled and flagged accounts of Trump supporters such as Diamond and Silk. Last week, Facebook, Google, Spotify and several other platforms deleted the accounts of Alex Jones and InfoWars. Who is next?

That is the question, isn’t it?

A question that should have been asked when I was shut down a year ago.

“If people flag them as potential hoaxes, we send those to fact-checkers. And if those fact-checkers say that it is provably false, then we will significantly reduce the distribution of that content,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Recode, which advocated simply kicking such people off the platform.

So who are the fact-checkers? Facebook has partnered with the Atlantic Council, a NATO-backed think tank, to assist the social network in policing news, views and ideas.

We need R E G U L A T I O N.

If the government decides that non-citizens don’t have a right to post memes on Facebook then… well, I actually have no idea how that could be legal, but whatever. That isn’t my problem.

They are treating this as a legal matter. Mueller has indicted people for posting memes, claiming that meme-posting is “election meddling,” even though there is no law that regulates internet memes. Or any law that regulates Facebook in any way.

The whole thing is like some big, weird joke. If they want to give edicts to Zuckerberg, they need to do so using the law, not through “pressure.” This is like some gangsterism, not the way a modern Western country is supposedly run.

By the Way

One of the accounts that was shut down as part of a “probable Russian conspiracy” – an antifa account dedicated to counter-protesting this shitshow Unite the Right 2 event in DC – has a loud group of people claiming that they run the account and are not Russians.

In fact, the blacks are accusing Facebook of racially targeting them by accusing them of being Russian agents.

True story.

Color Lines:

While Facebook continues to be a haven for White nationalism, Holocaust denial and Islamophobia, it has recently drawn criticism for taking down an event page for a protest against the “Unite the Right 2” rally on Saturday (August 12) in Washington, D.C. The first Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, ended with the killing of anti-racist protester Heather Heyer and the wounding of 19 others. Exactly one year later, the rally’s “alt-right” organizer Jason Kessler is trying again.

Facebook officials claimed they took down “No Unite the Right 2-DC” and 31 other unrelated pages because they violated the company’s ban on “coordinated inauthentic behavior” by ”bad actors.” The D.C. counter-protest page was hosted by “Resisters,” a page with a passing link to the U.S. election-meddling, Russian troll farm Internet Research Agency. But on-the-ground antifacsist organizers said they had taken over the page and were using it to spread the word about their counter-protest

In a statement obtained by the Associated Press on August 2, Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy, Nathaniel Gleicher, said that “legitimate Pages unwittingly helped build interest in ‘No Unite Right 2 – DC’ and posted information about transportation, materials, and locations so people could get to the protests.”

But April Goggans, creator of #KeepDC4Me, and a Black Lives Matter DC organizer who is co-planning the Unite the Right 2 counter-protest, says the removal reflects a double standard in how Facebook exercises its policies. Goggans talked to Colorlines about how the page removal and other Facebook actions have interfered with the fight against White supremacy. The emailed exchange is edited for clarity and length.

All of the accounts that were recently shut down as part of a “meddling” conspiracy were leftist accounts. Adam Schiff and other Chinamen nonetheless claimed that this was further proof of an as yet unproven and unexplained Russian conspiracy.
